(Savannah, GA) The highly
popular winter-time go kart racing series at Oglethorpe
Speedway Park will return to action this Saturday afternoon
beginning at 2:00pm. The Go Kart Winter Shoot-Out Series
race on December 17 was rained out and this past weekend’s
Christmas celebration has kept area karters from competition
for two weeks. Saturday’s double feature format should
create some great racing action.
“When you give
the drivers a couple weeks off,” said Go Kart official Jim
Horton. “They have a tendency to be more aggressive when
they get back on the track. That should create some intense
racing this weekend.”
Points races
in the Rookie II, Stock Light, Stock Medium and Stock Heavy
remain very close entering the double feature, double points
weekend on Saturday, December 31.
Joseph
Diekemper and Tyler Perry are deadlocked at the top of the
standings in the Rookie II division. Perry is fresh off his
first career victory on December 10 at OSP. Diekemper won
earlier this year during the shoot-out.
In the Stock
Light division, South Carolina’s Krystle Wolfe leads
Savannah’s Eddie Morris by three points. Wolfe has been the
leader of a growing number of ladies competitors at the
Winter Shoot-Out Series. She has led the Stock Light points
since the first week of the go kart season.
Tim Broschard
and Carl Bobst are fighting with another for the number one
spot in the Stock Medium division while Billy Dixon and Tad
Segars are battling in the Stock Heavy. All of the
divisions will be in action this Saturday as the series
continues with points races and double main events.
Grandstand admission is always
free for spectators at the Go Kart Winter Shoot-Out Series.
The pits will open at 11:30am. Practice cranks up at
12:30pm with racing set to go green at 2:00pm. Additional
