TIM BROSCHARD DOUBLES UP AT OGLETHORPE SPEEDWAY KART SHOW
By Katherine Adams

December 4, 2005

(Savannah, GA)  South Carolina’s Tim Broschard picked up two feature victories on Saturday afternoon at Oglethorpe Speedway Park.  Broschard won the main event for the Stock Medium before picking up the top spot for the Outlaws during OSP’s second week of the 5th Annual Go Kart Winter Shoot-Out Series.   The victory in the Stock Medium class has now moved him to within one point of divisional leader Carl Bobst.

“The track was wide again this week,” said Broschard.  “They have changed their track prep and it makes for a very fast race track with room to race.”

One of the best races of the afternoon was between Tim Broschard and sixteen-year-old Steven Howard of Bloomingdale.  The twosome raced each other hard for the entire 20 lap main event for the Outlaws.  Both darting in and out of lapped karts trying to find the fastest way around the tricky fifth mile oval.  Broschard held off all charges by Howard and won the race by less than a kart length over Howard.  Twelve-year-old Casey Lee was third followed by Tommy Leopard and Freddie Blochman.

In the Stock Medium, Tim Broschard dominated winning by several car lengths over KA Warnock and Carl Bobst.  Sean Davis and Krystle Wolfe finished fourth and fifth while Junior Morris, George Meador, Jathon Lane, Michael Bryan and Derek Mundy completed the top ten.

Bubba Newsome was the man to beat in the Stock Heavy division.  Benji Teston was the race’s first leader, but Newsome worked past him on lap three and then never looked back posting the win over Teston, Brandon Roumillat, Billy Dixon and Tad Segars.

Statesboro’s Daniel Brown bested the field of Stock Lights on Saturday.  Brown worked is way past Andrew Ryan early on in the 20-lap main event.  He then held off all challenges on his way to victory lane.  Eddie Morris was second ahead of Ryan, points leader Krystle Wolfe and Derek Mundy.

Rincon’s Tyler Sherrod bested the Junior Unrestricted for the second straight week of points racing.  Sherrod kept pace ahead of CC Warnock, Destiny Dalton, Daniel Brown and Brittany Lee.  Sherrod also has a commanding lead in the Junior Unrestricted points.

Pooler’s Casey Coker had no change in his weekly outcome.  Coker has picked up four feature wins in three weeks of racing.  The ten-year-old hot shoe bested the Rookie II division this week.  Joseph Diekemper was second ahead of Tyler Perry.

A new feature winner was honored in the Rookie I division this weekend.  Michael Kessel had to work his way back into the lead of the main event for the young racer’s division.  He spun on lap four and lost the first place spot to David Whitten.  But, Kessel fought his way back towards the front and passed Whitten to retake the lead at the halfway point of the race.  Kessel never looked back picking up his first career victory at the historic speedway.  Whitten had to settle for second ahead of Anna Singleton, Daulton Harris and Zach Black.

The Kiddie Karts race was a tough battle once again between J Jay Reich and Matthew Whitten.  The four and five year old karters expect to see more competition in the coming weeks at OSP’s Go Kart Winter Shoot-Out Series.

Oglethorpe Speedway Park hosts the Go Kart Winter Shoot-Out Series on Saturday afternoons in December, January and February.  The gates open at 11:30am.  Practice starts at noon with racing at 2:00pm.  Racing is completed prior to 4:30pm each Saturday.  For additional information contact the speedway at 912-964-8200 or visit the speedway website at www.ospracing.net.
