Doug Drown to Enter Coca-Cola Young Guns Shoot-Out
by Doc Lehman

November 9, 2005

Wooster, OH --- Doug Drown will start his 2006 ‘Black ‘n Blue Tour’ on the road with an early season trip to Georgia for the 2nd Annual Coca-Cola Young Guns Shoot-Out at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA. The historic half-mile speedway will once again showcase some of the nation’s best dirt track racing talent the first weekend of February 2006 when Oglethorpe Speedway Park will host it’s 2nd Annual Coca-Cola Young Guns Shoot-Out on February 2, 3 and 4, 2006. The race, featuring drivers age 23 and younger, provides an opportunity for professional teams to observe and meet the talented young drivers in one location. Drown, coming off the 2005 Wayne County (OH) Speedway track championship, and a former Renegade and MACS regular, will hit the road in 2006 concentrating on sanctioned races, television races and major unsanctioned events.

In addition to competing in the 2nd Annual Coca-Cola Young Guns Shoot-Out Drown will also participate in the various seminars and media gatherings that will be held during the weekend. "This sounds like a great event that I am looking forward to being a part of,” commented Drown, 23, who became a father for the first time when wife Courtney and the popular central Ohio driver welcomed son Cale into the world on October 24. “I think it is awesome that Oglethorpe Speedway Park puts this on for us younger guys to get noticed.”

“Hopefully we will go down there and be competitive and meet some people that will be able to help me with attaining my lifelong goal of becoming a full time race car driver. No matter what the outcome of the weekend is though, I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to get out early in the season and also getting back on the road again."

After spending the 2005 season dedicating his Saturday nights to Wayne County Speedway as he prepared for a season back on the road in 2006, Drown scored the track championship. His wins came at Wayne County Speedway on July 9 and he scored two American Advance Payroll Big 4 Series special events at Lakeville Speedway in Ohio including that track’s season-ending 10th Annual Ohio Dirt Blow-Out. During the season Drown also competed in various unsanctioned events in addition to races with MACS, World of Outlaw Late Model Series, UMP and Sunoco ALMS. He also made his first trip as a driver to Eldora Speedway’s WORLD 100 and made the top 120 qualifying field. He also competed during the recent 25th Anniversary Dirt Track World Championship weekend and competed in the Jim Dunn Memorial Non-Qualifiers feature.

Drown scored his championship driving the Wooster Glass, MCP Inc., Boles and Boreman Enterprises, Wooster Doll House, Lehman Motorsports Services sponsored Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines #12.

“We’re looking forward to getting back out on the road next year and looking forward to all the schedules to be released so we can start planning for 2006,” continued Drown. “I know we’ll get back to races like the WORLD 100 and the DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP but we want to add some more of those kind of events. We’re also looking forward to some television races and we know we’ll be making trips to tracks like Virginia Motor Speedway and the Dirt Track at Lowe’s for their TV races, and as many others that we can get to. I know there’s some rumors of a big race at the Dirt Track at Lowe’s in March or April and if that does happen we’ll be there.”

Drown and his team will also be unveiling a brand new website soon produced by Farr Motorsports in association with Lehman Motorsports Services.
