(Savannah, GA) The
world’s most famous monster trucks will visit the Savannah
area the final weekend of the month when the USHRA Monster
Jam Summer Heat comes to the Oglethorpe Speedway Park.
Eleven-time world champion Grave Digger will headline the
three night show on June 23, 24 and 25. This is the third
straight year the national tour has stopped at the historic
half mile speedway just west of downtown Savannah on the
border of Garden City and Pooler.
“These are the
same monster trucks that you can see at the Georgia Dome
during the winter months,” explained track general manager
Ted Austad. “They completed their winter schedule of
nationally televised events in March. Now they are touring
the outdoor venues at select cities around the nation. We
have been lucky enough to keep the show coming to this area
for three straight years.”
Grave Digger
has always been a crowd favorite at the Savannah tour
stops. But this year, world freestyle champion Bounty
Hunter will be competing for the coastal empire title. The
fourteen foot tall Ford F-150 Bounty Hunter will be very
good competition for the very popular Chevy panel wagon,
Grave Digger. Also on the card for the shows at Oglethorpe
Speedway Park are Destroyer, Bad News, T-Maxx and Sudden
Impact.
“The USHRA
always brings the top trucks to the shows at OSP,” added
Austad. “They have a great response from our area when they
visit Atlanta for their shows. This show is close in
comparison due to the large open area in which the trucks
compete in the speedway’s massive infield.”
The three night show opens
on Thursday, June 23 at 7:30pm. There will also be complete
shows on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 at Oglethorpe
Speedway Park. The gates open at 6:00pm each night and
there is a special VIP pit party planned for the pre-event
show on Saturday evening.
The Monster Trucks will compete in time trials, one on one
drag racing and everyone’s favorite freestyle competition
where the trucks are given three minutes to put on a show of
crushing cars, massive wheelies, fifty-foot air jumps and
more. Each night’s show will include the USHRA sanctioned
quad wars pitting local southern boys against a team from
New York City. There will also be a world record attempt
each night by a stuntman from Canada.
Tickets are only $15 for adults and $5 for children ages two
through twelve. All Advance Auto Parts locations have $5
coupons which can be used on advance sale ticket purchases.
Tickets are available at Oglethorpe Speedway Park, the
Savannah Civic Center, the Guest Services Desk at Oglethorpe
Mall and at Lester’s Florist on 37th and Bull.
